General Assistance can offer short-term financial assistance to qualified persons residing in Carroll County for things such as:
- rent
- utilities
- transportation for medical care
- prescription medications
- burial expenses
Assistance is limited to the following:
- "Poor Persons", meaning person who have no property, exempt or otherwise, who are unable, because of physical or mental disabilities, to earn a living by labor.
- "Needy Persons", who are those not meeting the definition in #1 above, yet meeting the financial eligibility of the Carroll County General Assistance policies.
The Community Services administers the general assistance program based on the Carroll County General Assistance Policy and Manual approved by the Board of Supervisors. Anyone wishing to apply must submit a completed General Assistance Application to the Community Services Office.
